Our design engineer colleague, Ádám Dudás, represented Hungary at the 8th International Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (8iYGEC), held in Graz between 11–13 June 2026. In his presentation, Ádám introduced technical and sustainability simulations developed as part of his MSc thesis, focusing on alternative solutions for one of our previous industrial projects. The event, bringing together young geotechnical engineers from six continents, provided an excellent opportunity not only for Ádám’s professional development, but also for HBM to further enhance its technical portfolio through exposure to international best practices.

Our Technical Director, Attila Szepesházi, presented a summary of his doctoral research on the design of deep excavations at the 21st International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ICSMGE). This global conference, held every four years and supported by our parent company, Soletanche Bachy, took place in Vienna this time with nearly 3,000 participants. The choice of venue was symbolic, marking the 100th anniversary of Karl Terzaghi publishing “Erdbaumechanik auf bodenphysikalischer Grundlage” in Vienna, a work widely regarded as the foundation of modern geotechnical engineering.
