The complete foundation system of LEGO’s plant atNyíregyháza was implemented during the decade-long partnership of LEGO and HBM. The high‑level quality and occupational safety requirements significantly shaped the development of our company. The 2022 phase of the project was particularly important from a sustainability perspective: we are proud that this was the first project where we were able to use ultra‑low emission concrete.

We were commissioned directly by BMW to carry out the entire deep foundation works for their investment in Debrecen. Over its 4 year duration, it has become the largest project in HBM’s history.

In addition to the more conventional deep‑foundation tasks, the project included more innovative structure. The retaining walls of the 14 meter deep circular pits were designed and constructed as unreinforced concrete circular diaphragm‑walls. The pioneer solution in Hungary has significantly reduced the carbon footprint of the project.

The greatest challenge of the project was the schedule: under only 3 months, we had to install nearly 170 km of structural and ground improvement piles, which required the parallel operation of six piling rigs.
