2016

We carried out the complete underground works for the new market hall and event center of the 4th district of Budapest. In addition to the diaphragm wall excavation support and the piled-raft foundation, we also undertook complex utility system modernization tasks.

Újpest Market and Marketplace Hall

2016-2019

From 2016 until the pandemic period, an intensive growth of the private and public market was faced. Within 5 years, we have completed the specialised deep foundation works of nearly 90 infrastructures on the development of M0, M4, M8, M30, M35 and M44 motorways.

Tamás Kaltenbacher will take over as head of HBM. Balázs Gombos will continue in his role as head of our sister company in Morocco.

2018

This project marked a new milestone in the field of river bridge foundations: for the first time in the world, we constructed an Osterberg cell test pile in the middle of the river. This pioneer solution has enabled the verification of the pile load bearing capacity directly at the location of the river pier. Another innovative step was to prepare the piling on an artificial island in the middle of the river, replacing the barges, as floating platforms.

2018

As the general contractor for the entire foundation works of the riverside office buildings of Budapest’s Infopark, we were responsible for the design and construction all underground works. That has covered not just our core deep foundation activities but the safe removal and transportation of large volumes of contaminated soil.

2019

The deepest anchor supported excavation in our company’s history was particularly complex site surrounded by the historic buildings. Beyond the design challenges the extremely confined construction site, the deep diaphragm wall and the high number of underwater anchoring required the broadening of the limitsof our solutions.

We accelerated our digital transformation by developing our quality management systems and strengthening project optimization through Z‑lyze analysis and BIM processes. In the same year, our performance was recognized with the Victor Award.

Szervita Square Building Garage

2020-2024

We were commissioned directly by BMW to carry out the entire deep foundation works for their investment in Debrecen. Over its 4 year duration, it has become the largest project in HBM’s history.

2020

We were responsible for the successful execution of the retaining wall and the 3 rows of steel strut system for the 3 level deep garage’s of one of the most significant real estate developments in Debrecen o the past few years.

We are constantly upgrading our fleet to ensure we can handle every project with greater precision and safety.
We systematically collect and report Scope 1-2-3 data, utilizing low-carbon solutions and building materials, with the support of the EXEGY program and our first Environmental Day.

2022

István Stötzer is taking over the management of HBM. Tamás Kaltenbacher has become the head of our sister company in the UK.

2022

The innovative solutions developed during earlier river bridge foundation projects were successfully applied once again—this time under extreme flood conditions. A new challenge emerged with the foundations of the on-shore bridge piers periodically submerged in the flood area: we had to construct the bottom watertight plug of a 10 meters deep sheet piled excavation. By the support of our sister companies, the bottom sealing of was succesfully completed with 3 meter diameter jet grouting columns installed down to the depth of 17 meters.

The Hilton Garden Inn was opened in a narrow street of Debrecen’s historic city center. We were in charge of the realization of the deep excavation works of 3 level deep underground structure. The confined construction site, the diverse architecture of the neighbouring buildings and the complex geotechnical conditions created a memorable challenge -one that our Debrecen team successfully overcame.

2023

In addition to the more conventional deep foundation tasks, the project included more innovative structure. The retaining walls of the 14 meter deep circular pits were designed and constructed as unreinforced concrete circular diaphragm walls. The pioneer solution in Hungary has significantly reduced the carbon footprint of the project.

2023-2024

We carried out the excavation retaining wall and its support system for the 2, 3 and 4 level deep underground garages of the 4 consecutively launched buildings in the Budapart real estate development. It was a real challenge to meet the high quality management requirements and the ambitious scheduling expectations.

2024

The short break between the annual Formula 1 and other race events from May to August was used to make a full redevelopment of the infrastructure. The large piling and excavations works were one of the most complex projects in recent years. Optimization of foundation design with time schedule focus, internation resource management with our sister companies, and the 24/7 operation schedule were all essential to meeting the extremely ambitious project deadlines. A particular achievement was to a reduce our carbon footprint with more than 400 tons of CO₂ emissions by foundation optimization.

Hungaroring

2025

This was the first project in HBM’s history where a predefined carbon emission contractual cap was required. The integrated efforts of our design, procurement and operations team was needed to reach this target. We are proud that by the fulfilment of the emission limit and maintaining a strong environmental focus throughout the construction process, we were able to contribute to the Client’s achievement of the LEED Platinum certification.
