The typically 150mm diameter boreholes are drilled with rigid drilling steel rod. The steel bar provides the reinforcement of the micropile against normal forces. Thanks to the special shape of the rigid bar, the cement mortar can be injected through that to fill the micropile volume from the bottom upwards and to provide quality controlled cement mortar along the full length of the micropile. The loads transferred from the superstructure are carried by the reinforcement bar and transmitted by friction to the grout body, and subsequently to the surrounding soil.
