In Q4 2024, HBM started the underground construction works for the development of Skanska’s newest office development in the 13th district of Budapest – H2Offices 2nd phase. Skanska is the investor of the project, and WORKUP, a specialised division of the FITOUT group is carrying out the general construction works. The project has been the greatest environmental challenge in our history so far.
We have built 2,500 m2 of diaphragm wall, supported by 65 ground anchors. Finally, 4 different types of very low carbon concrete was casted with a CO2 emission factor between 134-150 kg CO2/m3. Approximately 50,000 m3 of soil was excavated under strict safety and environmental control. Mechanical surface cleaning and smoothening of the diaphragm wall was carried which is a great progress in terms of safety and noise reduction.
Skanska’s aim is obtaining LEED Platinum Core & Shell environmental certification which is successfully supported by our in-house environmental team throughout the geotechnical works. This was our pioneer project where a contractual carbon emission limit was expected by the Client. By proactive design, purchasing and site organization, we could adhere to the limit and our performance was successfully approved by the Client during their rigorous monthly inspections.
We are proud to be part of Budapest’s most sustainable office development, contributing to its environmental success!
